 Guides Against Poaching..

It seems every time I turn on the television there is something on about all the poaching going on,yet our government keeps cutting back funds for MNR.You can't even find an MNR office anymore,now its service Ontario.Yet no-one in those offices really knows anything about hunting or fishing..

Ever call MNR? All you get is a recording, no one there it seems.. Not like the old days when we had a few MNR offices and you could actually speak with an officer..Well I am sick of it..Its time us guides stop complaining about it and try to do something about it.We as hunters if we ban together can become a great detourent !Gap is here! G.A.P is a group of guides and outfitters who care about our resourses.We intend to try and educate the public and our fellow hunters on the impact that poaching has on our wildlife population and the allocation of harvest tags availible to hunters.

 When I speak to residents in Nortern Ontario about guiding some have the impression that guides and outfitters are part of the problem, by bringing up hunters to kill all the game..Well that just isn't so..We may bring up all these hunters and fisherman but at least we hunt responsibly and I know when I have clients up, I try and educate them on hunting ethics. I also try to inform them on what poaching does and how it affects them as hunters..

I have always got a watchful eye for anything that out of the norm or a carcus shot out of season.. Have you been in the bush scouting before season and found a carcus out of season? Did you call MNR? Well you should, there is a good chance it could have been poached.. If we work together and help Mnr and report such incidents, maybe we can balance the scales..I patrol my hunting grounds and area two to three times a week.I am involved with  poaching incidents right now with MNR.

I am proud to say I am making a diference..Lets get together and share ideas on how to battle these thoughtless crimes and show the public and PETA we are part of the solution not the problem.... If we get together and share ideas on how to win this batlle we might just put a dent on this on going problem.Daily patrols of your huntings grounds will certainly help keep the animals there for your clients and future clients and not for those whom abuse the privlage of hunting..
